Doctor Who

Paul and Sophie Go To The Ball

If you’re in Dorset this weekend you can catch Paul McGann and Sophie Aldred at the SF Ball convention in Bournemouth.

The event runs from 7th-9th February at The Carrington House Hotel, and promises a warm welcome at the “three day social experience”.

Other sci-fi guests of note include Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Marina Sirtis and Chris Barrie from Red Dwarf. A good line-up of guests connected to publishing is headed by novelist Robert Rankin.

Sophie has fond memories of filming Doctor Who in the Dorset area, which holds a special place in Who history as the location for the original series’ last ever scenes. She sums up the pressures of shooting on a tight schedule rather nicely:

It was due to be in Perivale but we ran out of time and so we had to find some bushes in Warmwell and went there instead.

The glamour of being in Doctor Who, eh? For more information and ticket details head to SFB Events.

has watched Doctor Who since those great big spiders did for Jon Pertwee, and it's way too late to stop now. When he's not at his job working for a charity he spends his time following Hull City's fortunes, listening to Bruce Springsteen and wondering why it took thirty years too long for Doctor Who action figures to come along.
