New Doctor Who: Wave 2 Action Figures – The Monsters!

Accompanying the three TARDIS travellers unveiled in 3.75 inch guise last week, Characters’ Doctor Who Wave 2 also includes a quartet of monsters, arguably better realised than their humanoid foes.

Available for pre-order now from Forbidden Planet are a screaming Weeping Angel, an Assault Dalek, an Imperial Guard Dalek, and a Zygon.

Clearly presenting us with some of the key monsters from The Day of the Doctor and The Time of the Doctor, these new additions to the unpopular range are nevertheless well-produced, and resemble their models much better than the Eleventh Doctor, Clara and the newly regenerated Twelfth Doctor.

Each figure is £6.99 from Forbidden Planet. Pre-order is available now ahead of an expected release on March 15th.

Arguably the humanoid figures would have been better realized had Character Options kept the 5 inch standard from the first six series. Besides, I don’t need little dinky 3.75 inch high Zygons, Weeping Angels or Daleks. They would just look stupid and out of place among their 5 inch counterparts!

  2. avatar Al says:

It’s easy to make tiny figures if they’re not having to worry about human likenesses. But this 3.5 inch line is still a fail.

  3. avatar Mark Lenton says:

I love them. The switch to 3.5″ means there’s no point in buying them so my bank balance is mush more healthy. Good call Character Options, please make more stuff I’m not interested in buying…

Listen to the the buyers CO, we want the 5″ range back, that is the scale of our collections, and they are better models.

Unfortunately, CO is under the mistaken impression that kids are buying these. It’s the 20-, 30- and 40-something collectors that have kept them in business, not the kids. Same goes for Hasbro and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic; they refuse to acknowledge that their merchandise is not being bought by 7 year old girls, but by 37 year old businessmen.

Why not Tom Baker as the Curator? That would be a cool figure!
