Steven Moffat Discusses 50th, Offers Doctor Who Birthday Greeting

Steven Moffat doesn’t just want a celebration come Saturday, oh no; he wants to chart a course for the next fifty years and he’s doing that very thing by putting the Doctor front and centre of The Day of the Doctor.

So what does exactly does that entail?

In this interview Moffat offers some titbits about just how he came upon the most important day in the Doctors life, how those events define and change him and a brief discussion on where ‘acting royalty’ John Hurt fits into the that day’s events.

And if you want to know how much today means to the Moff, here’s a birthday greeting to the show he loves.

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
