Smith and Tennant To Appear on Graham Norton Show!

Fellow Time Lords Matt Smith and David Tennant will be making an appearance on The Graham Norton Show as Doctor Who celebrates its 50th anniversary later this month!

The Eleventh and Tenth Doctors will be joined by celebrity guests Emma Thompson, Jimmy Carr and Robbie Williams on Friday 22nd November, the night before Doctor Who‘s 50th anniversary special The Day of the Doctor.

As the timelines start to converge on Saturday 23rd, The Graham Norton Show is just one in a range of Who-related treats scheduled to hit the airwaves in the coming weeks, alongside Brian Cox’s The Science of Doctor Who, Mark Gatiss’ docudrama An Adventure in Space and Time and a special Monsters and Villains weekend on BBC Three (to name a few!) – we’ll be bringing you a full run-down on what you can expect to catch on the box as we approach the big day on Saturday.

But for Graham Norton fans, Friday 22nd is the date for your diaries, and BBC One the channel of choice, (programme time to be confirmed!)

I can just picture the screaming from the audience. Reminds me of an interview I saw with both Peter Davison and Colin Baker. Except their audience was a lot calmer.

This one is going to be crazy. :P

IF the BBC were actually THINKING, because, heaven forbid they actually do that…this should have been for a week earlier, and not the 22nd, the day before the anniversary special airs.

Why? The Graham Norton Show is shown in the US and Australia on a delay of so many days. The publicity for the simulcast is much more needed in those countries than in the UK. Everyone in the UK will know about when the anniversary episode would be airing, whether they are interested or not.

Because of the lack of forethought, the episode of Graham Norton which includes DT & MS won’t be airing in either the US or Australia until AFTER the program shows which they will be promoting… It’s not everyday a program gets simulcast worldwide, so it is a VERY BIG DEAL. Shaking my head, as this shouldn’t have been so hard to realize by the relevant professionals in their scheduling and plans…

It’s not the BBC’s problem if BBC America (which is a different company) can’t get its act together to air the thing on the same night. This is part of BBC One’s push for the special. They are under absolutely zero obligation to kowtow to other broadcasters. Your complaint should go to BBCA and whatever Australian network airs the thing. Those who care will see it online anyway.
