Shoreditch Herald

Rare Shoreditch Newspaper For Sale!

An interesting curiosity has found its way on to eBay in the week of the 50th anniversary, with the listing of the local newspaper which covered the mysterious disappearance of a teenage schoolgirl in 1963…

The copy of the Shoreditch Herald (not a real newspaper) imagines how the press might have covered Susan Foreman’s disappearance if the events of An Unearthly Child had really taken place. It even includes a quote from the officer who first responded in the case, Constable Sydney Newman.

In a nice touch, the fake newspaper also references Remembrance of the Daleks by including a story about unexplained explosions in the same area.

The item, a quirky souvenir of this very special week for the programme, is available for £9.99 with free postage.

has watched Doctor Who since those great big spiders did for Jon Pertwee, and it's way too late to stop now. When he's not at his job working for a charity he spends his time following Hull City's fortunes, listening to Bruce Springsteen and wondering why it took thirty years too long for Doctor Who action figures to come along.
