Night of the Doctor Premieres This Saturday

This Saturday, a special minisode, The Night Of The Doctor, will be available via the Red Button service.

It’s due to premiere on Saturday 16th November (just one week before the 50th anniversary) and is described as:

“The 50th Anniversary features Matt Smith, David Tennant and a mysterious incarnation played by John Hurt. Only one appears in this mini episode, The Night Of The Doctor. But which?”

Considering previous minisodes have been considerably ‘mini,’ this one runs for 6 minutes and 54 seconds, which is quite…uhm… considerable! The British Board of Film Classification has awarded it a PG rating due to:

“Scenes of mild violence, including attacks on a city and its residents, as well as scenes of threat from attacking forces.”

Attacking forces, eh? I’m thinking the threat of extermination…

i wonder if those of us i the US will be able to see this because it sounds really good!

It’s bound to end up on Youtube. That said, about 2 years ago ago the BBC’s website stopped “geolocking” its Doctor Who videos, so the minisodes that they’ve uploaded have been available outside the UK. There’s also a chance BBC America might post it too. But minisodes – unless they air as part of events like Children in Need in the UK- tend not to receive a regular broadcast overseas. But there’s a first time for everything.

It must be John Hurt. They wouldn’t tease us like that if it were Matt Smith, and it sounds like a part of the Time War to me.

  3. vortexter says:

Its interesting how they stress there is only one Dr appearing as rumour’s suggest a classic Dr may also be appearing in this minisode.

    • Paddy says:

Speaking as someone who is really hoping for a particular classic Doctor to reappear, I’m clutching onto hope on the basis that they only say one of the three Doctors that’s in the Special isn’t there.

Now, if there was another Doctor who we believe was around during the Time War who perhaps has some plot ends to be tied up, this’d be a great time to get that in there.

I believe that because they are stressing that only one doctor will be in it, it will not even be one of those 3 doctors, it will be a classic doctor like peter davison as he did he he would appear somewhere in the 50th or it could be John hurt? Who knows?

  5. dr jon says:

I think ezzy might be right, peter davison has been mentioning he has a 50th script with his name on it so he may well be in this minisode with john hurt at the end of the episode turning up.I hope it is true as this may be the only chance of a classic dr turning up in the 50th.
