The Web Of Fear Trailer

A terrific trailer for the newly discovered The Web of Fear is now available on, ahem, the web.

If you’re one of those who has so far decided to hold off downloading the episodes from iTunes and await the DVD release next year, it will surely test your resolve.

Highlights include a wonderfully inappropriate-for-its-timeslot dead body covered in cobwebs, a nicely understated ‘Oh dear…’ from Victoria, and the Doctor being vague but brilliant as only Troughton could. And not forgetting the Yeti on the streets of London.

What do you think? Are you going to play the waiting game until you can get your hands on the disc? Or have you already downloaded this lost classic? Share your thoughts below!

has watched Doctor Who since those great big spiders did for Jon Pertwee, and it's way too late to stop now. When he's not at his job working for a charity in Hull he spends his time following Hull City's fortunes, listening to Bruce Springsteen and wondering why it took thirty years too long for Doctor Who action figures to come along. Favourite stories include the one with the mummies, the one with Mr Sin and the one with the Mona Lisa. Currently listening to: The Fifth Doctor Box Set. By, it were a crowded old TARDIS in them days...

  1. Brilliant, that what that was! Seriously, I will probably face a barrage of negative follow-up comments, but I found that trailer to be far more interesting and exciting than the 50th anniversary one. As far as I am concerned, that “Web of Fear’ trailer WAS the anniversary trailer. Seriously can not wait for the DVD release on this side of the Atlantic..

Watching the trailer, I got goosebumps running up and down my spine. Just sheer absolute bliss. This story was my favourite Doctor Who Target book, so I am going to keep my resolve and wait for the DVD, but after seeing that I know its going to be a long, painful wait, but oh so worth it!

And I agree with Dominick – to me this is the perfect way to celebrate the 50th and Philip Morris has just become a god.

One thing I found interesting about this trailer is that “The Web Of Fear” itself is only available in SD (480P) to download, yet the trailer can be viewed in 720P and looks awesome at that resolution. I’m thinking this will be coming out on bluray at some stage, even though we’ve been previously told that “Spearhead From Space” is the only classic series story that will be released.

I’m going to wait for the DVD – I think! But they’re missing a trick not releasing it before Christmas; I’d be in line for a Yeti toy as well! Any chance they’ll add them to the range, do you think?

    • OMG! A Yeti toy would be a true delight for this 40-year-old plus fan! *hopeful*
