New Images From The Day of the Doctor

It begins – the first round of officially endorsed images from Doctor Who‘s 50th anniversary story The Day of the Doctor have been released, with BBC America and the BBC in the UK making a small selection of shots available today!

These images are not spoilers, so unless you’re ultra-sensitive about such things, you should enjoy what you’re about to see.

Written by Steven Moffat and previously revealed to feature Daleks, Zygons, Queen Elizabeth I and Rose Tyler, the photos here reveal pretty much everything else we know about the story – nothing. Above you can see John Hurt, David Tennant and current Doctor Matt Smith with Jemma Redgrave as Kate Stewart and Jenna Coleman as Clara.

Well I can see one spoiler there at least… Tennant in his own console room…

    • avatar Victor says:

Surely that doesn’t really qualify as a spoiler?! We know he’s in it, so it stands to reason that we’d see his console room.

      • avatar Geoff says:

I’m with Victor. DTs appearance is well publicised you can hardly have your enjoyment spoiled by the revelation he uses his Tardis too, just as the Doctor does in just about every other episode at some point.

    • It’s not a spoiler. The same image is in the new SFX magazine, out today.

If it’s in the press and it’s official BBC, it doesn’t constitute a spoiler except in extremely unusual circumstances.

Although I’m not desperate for the trailer, I do think it’s probably time to unleash the Kraken… err, I mean trailer. To all of us Doctor who loving guys and gals it’s been a fun year and the best is yet to come, but when I’ve spoken to non fans they seem to have no idea it’s the 50th year celebrations. Come on BBC, it’s about time (pardon the pun).

  3. avatar FrancoPabloDiablo says:

Nice to see the 10th Doctor in ‘his’ TARDIS interior.

  4. avatar Jon Roberts says:

Nice pictures but where’s the ‘Trailer’ BBC, getting a bit miffed now.

  5. avatar David Vereschagin says:

I still love the way David Tennant drives the console.

  6. avatar Geoff says:

I should think a trailer wil appear roughly 2/3 weeks ahead of broadcast so around the start of November. As a fan I agree it’s frustrating, I want it now but remember the purpose of a trailer is to creating buzz and awareness around a show in the build up to its broadcast, not to sate the desires of people like me.

Not sure if this has been addressed officially, but, what if it’s the “regeneration crisis Doctor” and he succeeded in growing his own Tardis from the piece the Tenth gave him? After all, that would explain quite neatly the fact that he and Rose have aged a few years. Surely the Tardis he grew would look like the one “he” remembered…

  8. avatar castellanspandrel says:

In the ’3 Drs’ pic, John Hurt looks like Orcini (William Gaunt) from Revelation of the Daleks.

  9. avatar Simon Magellan says:

Interestingly – no Rose to be seen…
