Doctor Who News Shocked Doctor

Hotsy Totsy’s Who Burlesque!

Forget the stupid 2013 Christmas Special and all that 50th Anniversary Special nonsense, THIS is the real show many of us have been waiting for!

Hotsy TotsyThe Hotsy Totsy Burlesque troupe will be putting on (or taking off?) a special tribute to the greatest show in the galaxy, called (and I’m blushing as I type this): Doctor Who: Boobies in the TARDIS! Not unlike – well, a lot unlike, really – Spearhead from Space or The Lodger, it’ll feature The Doctor stumbling into an adventure with a lot of near-nudity.

As described on Broadway World, the story of the show goes something like this:

“The Doctor is back!!!!! His Police Box has appeared in the Home for Wayward Girls and Fallen Women before, and The Doctor just can’t seem to figure out why the TARDIS keeps bringing him back. We say it just wants the Doctor to have a good time watching burlesque!”

Hey, if it’s good enough for the Doctor, who can argue? Boobies in the TARDIS, which is not Hotsy Totsy’s first spin around Doctor Who, will feature an array of female and male performers in a “high camp” fully scripted and costumed (for a few minutes, anyway) production. And, as you may have guessed, unlike the BBC program that it’s based on, this burlesque show is probably not meant to be viewed by the whole family…unless it’s from behind the sofa.

The Lodger

So, faster than you can say “Dalek bumps”, set your TARDIS coordinates to the R-Bar in New York City on Tuesday, September 17th 2013 – that’s a mere two weeks from now! Tickets are only $10. For more information, a person can go to or get tickets at

I just want a mate.

  1. I object quite strongly to you publicising this. This is just stripping and I do not think it belongs on Kasterberous. Grow up , boys..

I have to agree, this is not the place to promote a show like this.

Interestingly, the brilliant Alexander Armstrong recently got in trouble for saying: “I’m convinced that cabaret is set to return. People said it about burlesque and they weren’t wrong. A whole load of old strippers bought themselves pompons and souped-up their sets and are calling themselves burlesque.” You can read more about that here:

To be honest, I think it’s Kasterorous’ place to cover everything Doctor Who. This is perfect for demonstrating this site’s jovial attitude. To me, it was worth reporting just for the funny comparison with Spearhead from Space and The Lodger, as well as Drew’s wonderful closing line.

Is there a major difference between this and our report on Jenna being topless in Room at the Top, which was last year’s most-read article? I’m genuinely not sure. Both could claim that nudity is there as part of an art form. And if K hadn’t reported about Jenna, that would be idiotic, especially as every other site and newspaper featured it quite extensively.

Nonetheless, I think people will be interested in this burlesque show, just the same as they were when Jenna went topless.

Oh Bugger off you bunch of prudes! their is a difference between your common whore strip and the beauty and subtlety that is burlesque/cabaret

        Elegantly put!

I’ve always thought that when productions like this happen with a certain pop culture theme that it’s really a tribute to what it’s playing off of. Mimicry is the sincerest form of flattery! They wouldn’t do it if they didn’t think it would make them some bit of money! Posting about this is no more worse than using one of THOSE pics of Billie in an article or talking about Jenna’s topless scene. It’s not like actual pics of half naked or totally naked performers are being shown…

A group in the USA. Doing a tribute to Doctor Who. As a burlesque show. If you set aside the naughtiness and cheekiness for a second, this story is a perfect example of one thing: Doctor Who’s growing world-wide success. Something like this would not have happened in the USA 10, 15, or 20 years ago. There’s a fan base that is growing outside of the UK of people who really adore the show…and show it in their own way. (And thanks for the kind words Phil and Becky!)

No, thank YOU for making me laugh with your “I just want to mate” line.

It is news and it is related to the programme. Therefore, whatever one might feel about burlesque as an art-form, it is appropriate to report it. I do like the tone of the piece too :)
