Doctor Who Prom 2013

Doctor Who Prom 2013 Details

This month offers another celebration for Doctor Who’s 50th birthday but this time, instead of celebrating the man, we’ll be celebrating his music!

The BBC Proms 2013 will be celebrating in style on July 13th with Prom 2 – Doctor Who Prom, featuring the work and talent of Murray Gold’s writing that we’ve enjoyed for the last eight years. Ben Foster will be resuming his excellent duties as Conductor for the event as well as performances from the London Philharmonic Choir and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

But seeing as how this is one of the Doctor’s biggest birthday’s ever, these talented and dedicated people have decided not only to showcase their work from Rose to The Name of the Doctor but to also celebrate music from the last 50 years of Doctor Who in its entirety! The performance will journey back and look at the work done by the BBC Radiophonic workshop, quite what they’ll choose to play is anyone’s guess but this is a concert that you won’t want to miss if you’re a fan of Doctor Who’s music from over the years.

Of course, if that’s not enough for you, there’ll be the usual appearances from special guests, a host of the Doctor’s most fearsome enemies and some big screen celebrations.

All you have to do is sit back and relax and then tune in to BBC Radio 3 at 7.30 pm on Saturday 13th  July for some Doctor Who fun and games.

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
