New Character 3.75″ Figures Trailer

Character has released details of their new 3.75″ Doctor Who figure range, and ahead of a longer feature later this week, here’s the trailer!

Featuring new Dalek, Ice Warrior, Cyberman, Weeping Angel, Eleventh Doctor and Clara figures available individually, the new range also features several dioramas, including the ruins of a Dalek-controlled London and the Ice Warrior-infested submarine of Cold War.

Figures are available to buy now – Forbidden Planet stocks them for just £6.99.

My apologies for weighing in on this so negatively, but apart from the “monsters” (Dalek, Cyberman, Ice Warrior, etc.), in my opinion these figures are horrible. The likenesses are nowhere near close to Matt or Jenna, and be assured, the details will only suffer more and more as they go down this path. This is Character Options trying to do it all on the cheap, selling out on us, period. For a company that once produced some of highest quality and finest articulated figures on the market (and still will with the Classic line, which thank God, will remain in the 5″ scale), this is a true disappointment, and quite a fall and failing. It would be my hope that those of us who have purchased CO’s products in the past would send a message by simply not purchasing these. But I fear some folks will buy anything with the Doctor Who name on it. I shudder at the thought of how stupid CO must think Doctor Who collectors are.

For a moment I thought Dapol had risen from the dead.

They are shocking. I was looking at them in Forbidden Planet at the weekend and the Clara is especially poor. The small size is also a Xbox One sized misjudgement. They all look too small next to your other figures.

I’m hoping against all hope that one day a Series 7 Matt Smith Doctor in 5″ scale will appear. Doctors One through Ten are now included in what encompasses what is set apart as the “Classic” line, and anything released in this line will remain in 5″ scale. I loved the waistcoat and frockcoat, the whole purple makeover for the Eleventh Doctor. And sadly, our only hope of having a quality Clara figure any time soon will be if Big Chief releases her in their 1.6 scale line. The Eleventh Doctor is out in that line, and Amy is coming very soon. Then the Tenth and Fourth Doctors will follow, with plans to produce all Eleven (sorry, now 12 I would assume) Doctors eventually, and I’d imagine some companions as well. These figures are beautiful, and will even have accessory packs with additional clothing options. The issue here is one of cost. They are all in the $200.00 (USD) range, and not everyone, including myself can afford that.
