Whenever an actor steps into the role of the Doctor, they inevitably play a character for a number of years that is inherently ‘good'; maybe there are shades of grey about the Time Lord but at the end of the day he’s a force for positivity and resilience.
So when said actor departs from the world of Doctor Who and starts to appear in other projects where they’re playing characters that are not so nice, in fact playing characters that could be downright nasty, it’s always engaging to watch.
Recently, Matt Smith took a break from filming his last episodes of Doctor Who, shaved his head and went over the USA where he filmed scenes for a new movie written and directed by Ryan ‘Incredibly Likeable’ Gosling.
Smith’s character looks somewhat troublesome in the piece and recently spoke about the character that he’ll be playing called Bully:
He’s a sort of bad guy…It’s a big departure. It’s always interesting to explore people without emotional boundaries and a lack of remorse.
Certainly from what we’ve seen so far from pictures taken on set, Smith looks entirely different from the Eleventh Doctor that he’s shaped over the last few years, not only in what he wears and how he has his hair but also how he’s using his face as well.
Could Matt Smith be one of the Doctors to go beyond television filmmaking and land a golden deal in Hollywood?
