Let’s face it; John Nathan-Tuner kept Doctor Who alive during the 1980’s. He certainly kept the fires burning on the show when many others started to give up on it.
Recently, a book about his life and career, JN-T: The Life and Scandalous Times of John Nathan-Turner, was released with mixed reviews as it gave some rather shocking insights into his private life.
However, author Richard Marson and Miwk Publishing, who can be in no way to blame for Nathan-Turner’s actions during this period, have teamed up with a very worthy cause, The Actors’ Benevolent Fund, so that they can make the best out of an awkward situation.
Nathan-turner was always known for his exuberant dress sense and especially for his Hawaiian shirts that illuminated him so brightly. There are two of these to win, one of which formed the basis for the cover of the hardback edition of JN-T: The Life and Scandalous Times of John Nathan-Turner.
Both shirts will be auctioned via eBay for 7 days from Friday June 14th at 10pm to Friday 21st June, 10pm. A link will be posted to Facebook, Twitter and forums on the night so you can keep up to date; their feeds are @MiwkPublishing and @richardmarson2 on Twitter or you can go via Facebook.
All of the proceeds will go to the Actors’ Benevolent Fund and in addition to the shirts, winning bidders will also receive a copy of the book signed by the author and copies of two other Miwk Publishing Doctor Who titles, You & Who and Turn Left.
