We did it! We hit 3000 LIKES!

We did it! Or rather, you did it for us – and we’re all very grateful!

k-facebook recently asked for your help in reaching 3000 Facebook likes. We’re not vain but we do like to show that our following is ever growing and so we put the word out there on the internet so that everyone could get involved. And the message came out from across the stars…come to Kasterborous.

Any you did!

So welcome, the new people who have just liked us, maybe you’re a long time reader, maybe your brand new to the site, maybe this is your first time that you’ve ever looked up Doctor Who on the internet as you’ve only jut discovered the show (you’re going to have a brilliant time over the next 100 years or so, get prepared to spend a lot of your money on Doctor Who), either way this is where things start to get really exciting.

We also incentivised you all as well; we promised a prize to one lucky individual who took part in this fun little Facebook challenge and we’re pleased, proud and happy to announce the winner as Debra Harrelson, who has won a copy of Terry Nation: The Man Who Invented the Daleks!

Thank you to everyone who took part, we really appreciate your time and effort and look out for similar competitions from soon!

About the Author

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!

I am glad i “liked” you guys when i did, as i am no longer active on facebook at all. (not completely sure what my password is/was).
It’s a fact, and you can look this up, that facebook is leaking “active” users in various age groups. From what i have heard on various tech podcasts, the sub-18 crowd considers it old school,,, and most those over 35 are becoming bored with their bloated timelines, ranting old friends, and have “friends” that we really don’t want to keep in touch with.

I know everyone needs quantitative results, and i feel that this is a great thing for the big K. It is quite an achievement. Combined with google’s report mechanisms, overall server traffic, etc, this really shows that people thoroughly enjoy the reporting that they find on Kasterborous. Having said that, I believe the big K needs to create a google plus circle (a service gaining popularity in the tech/nerd crowd i am associated with), as well as an active twitter and instagram account as well. Keep in mind, we are starting to see the fracturing of the social networking giant.

I know there are people who will argue that facebook is not loosing users, you can read articles on both sides for as long as you like,,, but i can tell that from my anecdotal experiences,,,, most people i know of who were “neato” about facebook in 2011 and 2012, have become either “meh” about it, to outright abandoning. This does not mean that i don’t know a few who are still hopelessly addicted to it. There will always be that crowd, but they were the ones hopelessly addicted to chat rooms in the late nineties, and MMS texting a few years ago.

I am sorry if it is sounding like I am raining on your parade,,,, far from it. To get this kind of recognition on a platform who’s real activity is constantly “questionably” reported, is amazing. I just wanted to point out that i am not sure where an online entity should go for eyeballs nowadays. With mobile growing, facebook activity down, and people starting to settle into strange and unique habits,,,, we are truly in a time of flux.
