The Light at the End Guest Cast Announced

There’s been grumblings recently regarding the news that the televised Doctor Who episode for the 50th Anniversary in November 2013 won’t be featuring any of the past Doctors apart from David Tennant as the Tenth. But never mind, that’s where Big Finish come in, providing a multi-Doctor tale so that every incarnation gets a birthday gift.

5 Doctors

And not only are Big Finish offering us Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann alongside Louise Jameson, Sarah Sutton, Nicola Bryant, Sophie Aldred, India Fisher and Geoffrey Beevers in their 50th Anniversary tale, The Light at the End: they’ve also announced a huge list of other actors and actresses that will be making appearances in the 2-hour celebration. The list in full is:

William Russell as Ian, Carole Ann Ford as Susan, Maureen O’Brien as Vicki, Peter Purves as Steven, Jean Marsh as Sara, Anneke Wills as Polly, Frazer Hines as Jamie, Wendy Padbury as Zoe, Katy Manning as Jo, Janet Fielding as Tegan and Mark Strickson as Turlough!

Now that is a celebration! It does help that the whole thing is on audio and therefore makes it easier for older actors to drop in and do a small amount of work for a big return (especially from the fans!).

The Light at the End is available for pre-order now, as a 5-disc limited collectors’ edition and a 2-disc standard edition from Big Finish.

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!

Tennant and Smith? Really??? Now I’m excited.

    • Is this sarcasm or are you sincere? Just curious.

Surprisingly sincere, I had no idea they were involved – are we going to have an eleven Doctor story? Even if there may only be spinets of dialogue from the ones who are no longer with us – oh, and Ecclestone…

Actually, I think I’ve just read this wrong. I thought it was just referring to the big finish production. Oh well…

  2. ONLY thing to be excited about at this point…..A HUGE thank you to Big Finish. You guys are THE BEST!

I have only listened to a few Big Finish audios, but I love what they have done with the 8th Doctor. It’s good to see at least one production that is actually celebrating the 50th in a proper and fitting way, unlike the non-celebration ‘planned’ by Moffat. No Series 8, just leftovers, for the anniversary year and a single 1 hour special for the 50th that features no classic Doctors. Despite all the promises over ‘taking over television’ and ‘why talk in the singular?’, none of it has come to fruition. Can he go now please?
