Nightmare In Silver Gallery and Synopsis

The BBS has released images of the new Doctor Who Series 7 episode, Nightmare in Silver, written by Neil Gaiman and featuring the return of the Cybermen!

Here’s the synopsis:

Hedgewick’s World of Wonders was once the greatest theme park in the galaxy, but it’s now the dilapidated home to a shabby showman, a chess-playing dwarf and a dysfunctional army platoon.

When the Doctor, Clara, Artie and Angie arrive, the last thing they expect is the re-emergence of one of the Doctor’s oldest foes. The Cybermen are back!

Executive produced by Steven Moffat and Caroline Skinner

Directed by Stephen Woolfenden, the episode stars Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman as the Doctor and Clara, with Tamzin Outhwaite and Warwick Davis as guest stars. Cybermen are voiced by Nicholas Briggs.

And now, the gallery.

Is just me or does Clara seem a bit like Ace in those clothes?

I noticed the roses on the skirt again. Two Doctors eh? one good, one bad maybe? Judging by the pics I reckon that you get infected with the silver Nightmare virus and slowly converted to the Cybermen. I hope not. I like the body shock idea of being pushed into a conversion chamber while the machines do the rest.

I’m really looking forward to this story. Its nice to have the Cybermen in something other than another typical invasion-of-Earth story. This seems more like Tomb of the Cybermen, but set in a futuristic amusement park.

Any story that is away from earth is a bonus for me. I also noticed the crescent half-moons around the doors the Cybermen exit from which tie in with the tombs on Telos. The new design of the Cybermen has a kind of medieval-feel which works well with the castle settings. They have the look of a suit of armour about them.

I never fully embraced the new series Cybermen design–too much of a manga influence (anybody else think they look a bit like Ultraman?)–but I’m loving the new, leaner version we see here.
