Matt Smith Has Shaved His Head

For those of a nervous disposition, look away now…

…The floppy-haired Matt Smith is no more; long live (well hopefully not too long) the crew cut Doctor!

Matt Smith has had his hair cut

The Eleventh Doctor has shorn his famous tousled locks as filming commences on Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut How to Catch a Monster on Monday.

The formerly floppy-fringed Doctor was seen bare-chested and brandishing a set of weights as he left his trailer to begin filming on location in Detroit, Michigan.

Singing from the back of a white Cadillac as director and Drive star Ryan Gosling watching on from the passenger seat Matt looked a world away from the TARDIS in a gold-spotted leather jacket.

Recently Matt told Total Film how the actor auditioned him for four hours, recording him on his iPhone.

The hotly anticipated and vaguely Lynchian, How to Catch a Monster, starring Matt Smith, Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan and Eve Mendes will be released in 2014.

About the Author

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.

The 5th Doctor was kind of naive. Being the then youngest looking of his incarnations, when he was trying to explain how grave a situation was, he sometimes came across as hyper or a babbler (see Kinda & Arc Of Infinity & Snakedance & Warriors Of The Deep & Awakening & Frontios) thus no one believed him/took him seriously until it was almost too late. Although he acknowledged something was going on during the Black Guardian Trilogy, he still didn’t notice that Turlough was trying to kill him or that Turlough was under the thrall of the Black Guardian. In spite of all the above, he remains one of my favorite Doctors!

While I agree with your assessment of the Fifth Doctor, I am at one with zarbisupremo in commenting”Eh?!?”

Perhaps it is a comment on the “About the author” section rather than on the article?

It ought to be interesting to see how much of these locks (sp) come back before the anniversary begins filming.

Maybe McGann can loan him a wig.

      The anniversary has finished filming.

  4. So filming of the new season will at least have to wait for half a year.
