Coming Soon: Masterplan!

Over the next few months you’re going to be hearing a hell of a lot about this, but for now all you need to know is below…

MU pg 002 loAbove is the second page from Mission to the Unknown, which forms the first installment of our new comic strip adaptation of The Daleks’ Master Plan, available here on Kasterborous every Saturday from June 1st to August 17th.

Adapted by Rick Lundeen (Kasterborous readers may recognise his work from Time Leech), this comic book retelling is called Masterplan and will be available in digital formats and in print, with all proceeds from each going to Children in Need. You can look at the project as a special 50th anniversary surprise from Kasterborous!

After all, let’s remember that it isn’t just Doctor Who‘s 50th anniversary. Terry Nation’s enduring monsters are also celebrating their half century this year, so what better story to adapt than the now-incomplete classic?

Rick started on Masterplan back in 2010, telling us:

“I did 6 pages that comprised the first part of Episode one, “The Nightmare Begins” picking right up from the end of The Myth Makers. Also did a line up redesigning the Galactic Council to give a few of them a bit more alien feel than the 1965 original budget allowed.”

Since then, the original plan to end on November 23rd has been shelved (we suspected you lot might be busy with something else…), but having seen the finished product I’m certain you will be thrilled by Rick’s enthusiasm for this epic, lost tale.

Full details on how to read Masterplan will appear later this week, but in the meantime, get ready for weekly classic Doctor Who every Saturday night throughout the summer!
