Doctor Who News Doctor Who Series 7: Hide

Next Time: Hide!

From Martians to ghosts, Doctor Who keeps moving next week with Hide, Neil Cross’ second episode of the season after The Rings of Akhaten. Despite the mixed reviews for that story, however, we reckon you should give this story of a haunted house the chance it deserves…

With guest stars Dougray Scott (Mission: Impossible 2, Day of the Triffids) as Professor Alec Palmer and Jessica Raine (Call the Midwife, and late this year An Adventure in Space and Time as Verity Lambert) as Emma Grayling, Hide is directed by Jamie Paine, whose previous credits include Call the Midwife, The Hour, Primeval and two key episodes in the third series of Ashes to Ashes. With that body of work behind him, and with a superb cast, Hide should be something to look forward to!

With the BBC messing around with the schedules to accommodate The Voice‘s battle with Ant & Dec and Britain’s Got Talent, Doctor Who has been shifted back to 6.45pm broadcast slot on Saturday, April 20th. It will of course retain its 8 ET slot on BBC America.

Every year they shunt Who around some crummy reality show, when it’s a 50 year old colossus that will be around long after Ant and Dec and the Voice. It’s no way to treat a supposedly flagship show. Every year we get this and I’m fed up with it. Still there’s nothing we can do as the Beeb still feels they have to chase Saturday night ratings. Leave the ephemeral rubbish to ITV where it belongs……

Definitely looking forward to this episode. Looks like it could be the Ghost Light of the new series (and I love Ghost Light).
