Katy Manning Recalls Jo Grant/Doctor Relationship

In a brief, fascinating clip taken from the upcoming DVD Commentary for The Green Death, Jo Grant actress Katy Manning (quizzed by former showrunner Russell T Davies) says she believed that ‘there was something’ between Jo and the Third Doctor.

Davies also discusses Jo’s offer of self-sacrifice in The Daemons as well as her tear-jerking goodbye at the end of The Green Death where she left to marry a ‘human version’ of the Doctor.

For more, including out-doing Jon Pertwee at silly voices, returning for The Sarah Jane Adventures and filming that leaving scene, make sure you buy The Green Death: Special Edition which is set for release in August.

About the Author

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.

One Response to Katy Manning Recalls Jo Grant/Doctor Relationship

  1. Francis Cave says:

Very much looking forward to this DVD though I thought the Manning/Davies commentary was going to be on the the SJA episode to be included as a bonus feature on the DVD rather than on Green Death itself.

Listening to this is does sound like they are watching The Green Death so I wonder if the plan changed or in fact they do a commentary on both stories?
