Dr Who And The Daleks DVD & Blu-ray Reissues

Dr Who and the Daleks, the first cinematic outing of the Doctor has been restored and is coming to DVD and Blu-ray this May!

Peter Cushing stars in Dr Who and the Daleks

The film, directed by Gordon Flemying, is an adaptation of the classic First Doctor serial The Daleks and sees Hammer Horror legend Peter Cushing taking on the role of an altogether more human Doctor in this revised telling of the Doctors origin tale.

Having invented the TARDIS, a strange machine capable of travelling into other dimensions, the Doctor and his three young accomplices set forth on a quest through time and space.

Their journey takes them into the dark, undiscovered depths of the universe and to the planet of Skaro. A primitive world devastated by nuclear war and populated by two warring species, a peaceful tribe known as Thals and a life form heavily mutated by radiation, encased in protective machines. A merciless force of destruction known as the Daleks!

About the Author

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.

I remember the first time I watch this film, it was like a whole other world entirely. They actually had it in our local Blockbuster (video rental), and I must have rented it a dozen times before I finally got it on VHS. Definitely looking forward to this release.
