Daleks – Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. DVD & Blu-ray Reissues

Some of you may not be aware of this but in the early 1960’s just as Doctor Who was starting to be recognised as The Best Thing Ever Invented, there were two movies made based on original television scripts.

Daleks – Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.

While Dalekmania was at an all time high, movie producers decided there was money to be made from Doctor Who on the big screen as well as the small one and so, they took the first Dalek story (The Daleks) and the sequel (The Dalek Invasion of Earth) and converted them into film scripts with a new actor playing a human version of the Doctor, basically an eccentric scientist, played by film legend Peter Cushing.

For Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary, these two films have been digitally restored to their original shining glory and are available to purchase on both DVD and Blu-ray.

Daleks- Invasion Earth 2150 AD will be available for all to enjoy from May 27th 2013 and finds Doctor Who, his niece and his granddaughter taking policeman Tom Campbell (played perfectly by a young Bernard Cribbins) to a future version of Earth that’s been invaded by the Daleks!

Daleks – Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.

Directed by Gordon Flemyng, the movie is accompanied by the following extras:

• Restoring Daleks – Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.
• Interview with actor Bernard Cribbins
• Interview with author Gareth Owen
• Stills Gallery
• Trailer

This film is a fantastic follow up to Doctor Who and the Daleks and is also a very fun slice of sci-fi fun.

You can pre order your DVD copy from Amazon for just £10.25, or opt for the HD Blu-ray version at £12.50!

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
