The First Sontarans writer Andrew Smith

After a year off, the pubcon is back – VWORP 5 is Writercon, a Doctor Who event this Sunday, March 24th!

Taking place in the welcoming warmth of Manchester’s Lass O’Gowrie public house, Writercon brings some of the best Doctor Who writers from across the classic series and Nu Who, delivered in a relaxed, cosy atmosphere. Don’t expect to turn up and queue for autographs at £20 a shot – instead, prepare some questions and expect to learn something new!

With Q&As, clips, workshops and other surprises, tickets are a snip at £19.00 a head and will be available shortly from www.wegottickets.com.

Confirmed guests thus far are Terrance Dicks (former script editor, responsible for many classics including The Horror of Fang Rock), Keith Temple (Planet of the Ood), Philip Martin (Vengeance on Varos), Andrew Smith (Full Circle, pictured above) and illustrator Adrian Salmon, with more in the pipeline.

Additional guests are entirely possible, and Kasterborous honcho Christian Cawley will be in attendance on the day, chatting with Andrew Smith.

More info on the Lass can be found at www.thelass.co.uk.

Christian Cawley

A long-term Doctor Who fan, Christian grew up watching the show and has early memories of the Graham Williams era. His favourite stories are Inferno, The Seeds of Doom and Human Nature (although The Empty Child, Blink and Utopia all come close). When he’s not bossing around the news team, Christian is a freelance writer specialising in mobile technology and domestic computing, and enjoys classic rock, cooking and spending time in the countryside with his wife and young children. You can find him on Twitter, Facebook and Google+.
