Update from Writercon!

I’m currently sat in the snug at The Lass O’Gowrie in Manchester where Terrance Dicks is currently chatting about Jon Pertwee, Barry Letts, Bob Holmes and Time Lords. Meanwhile, I’ve just finished chatting to Andrew Smith about his 1980 serial Full Circle!

It’s Writercon day here at Manchester’s (Britain’s?) finest public house and Terrance and Andrew are on a guest list that also includes Keith Temple (Planet of the Ood) and Philip Martin (Vengeance on Varos) in a situation that can equally be called civilized, intimate and slightly anarchic.

There are no autograph queues for £20 signatures here – just drinks, pies and fascinating recollections about everybody’s favourite TV show. The atmosphere is great, and everyone seems to be having a great time. Keith Temple was particularly refreshing as a one-time writer and comparative newcomer.

If you’re in Manchester and haven’t made it, more info can be found at www.thelass.co.uk.
