Sylvester Denies Anniversary Special Involvement

In the ongoing saga of ‘will they, won’t they or have they already asked the former Doctors to return to the show for its 50th anniversary’, Sylvester McCoy has denied that the BBC have approached him to once again don the question mark vest and return to the show.

Speaking with IGN whilst promoting the DVD and Blu-Ray release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey an animated McCoy was asked whether he had heard about an approached by Steven Moffat:

No. Nothing. Niet. Zilch. The other day I was with Tom Baker, Peter, and Colin – the 20th century Who-ers, and Tom asked ‘Well, little man, have you heard anything?’ and I told him ‘No, I haven’t heard anything.’ So none of us have heard anything.

Sylvester also talked about the similarities between the Seventh Doctor and Radagast the Brown, his favourite Doctor moments (Remembrance of the Daleks being one of those moments where he: ‘felt like the Doctor’), how he keeps sane amongst all the fan love and his opinions on the modern series.

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
