Makeup artists seem to have the best lives, they can rub up against the celebrities, get involved with good money and creative ideas but at the same time they get to stay out of the watchful eye of the public, if they choose.
Let’s take a minute though, and celebrate the work of Lisa Westcott, who is now an Oscar award winner that had an early association with Doctor Who.
Wescott won an Oscar alongside Julie Dartnell in the new Hairstyle and Makeup category for the award ceremony, this recognition is fantastic for someone with her illustrious career.
Starting her notable career in 1977, Wescott went on to serve as the makeup artist for the 1982 Fifth Doctor two parter Black Orchid, she then went on to work on projects such as Grange Hill, The Brittas Empire and The Thin Blue Line as Makeup Designer before moving onto movie projects such as Fred Clause, Captain America: The First Avenger and Les Miserables.
A career progression such as this is normally worth giving applause to but when the lady’s professional roots come from the Doctor Who world, we have to be even more praise worthy than usual.
