What a Witty Little Knitter!

Sometimes, people can give you the most wonderful and original gifts for Christmas. For all of you that decided a gift voucher would do the trick this year take note!

Doctor Who fan crochets 11 Time Lord incarnations

Allison Hoffman from Austin, Texas received a request over the yuletide period from a woman who wanted to surprise her husband by giving him the Eleven Doctors for Christmas. But not the real Doctors obviously, these ones were to be crocheted versions. So, as a professional custom crochet maker, Hoffman set about making replicas of the eleven incarnations of the Doctor and they could not have turned out cuter if she had tried!

Each Doctor is a fine representation of his era; Matt Smith’s version even has a little red fez. There’s even a crochet version of the TARDIS for them all to hop into!
Before taking on this project, I had only seen the newer Who and not very many episodes. But now I feel like I know all of these people personally!

I’ve done a tonne of research on them and would easily consider myself a Whovian at this point.
Although she’s not a Doctor Who fan herself, Hoffman undertook research on all of the Doctors in order to faithfully recreate them and now considers herself a proper Doctor Who fan. She chose her favourite incarnation recently and talked about the creation process:

They each took about five days from start to finish. My favourite to make was the Fourth Doctor, Tom Baker. I loved making that scarf!

Perhaps if you contacted Allison Hoffman via Facebook, she might make some for you as well (NB: we doubt she does this free of charge.)

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
