About the Author

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.

One Response to The Visitation: Special Edition DVD Details

  1. Bradondo says:

This is decent story for this period but it’s so frustratingly full of missed opportunities. The concept of the Terileptils is intriguing–an aggressive race equally prizing both warfare and aestetic beauty–but aside from a relatively throwaway line informing us of this there’s absolutely no exploration of this potentialy rich dichotomy. It also (probably due to budgetary concerns) squanders its hisrorical setting by having the action take place in the countryside rather than the cramped and creepy environs of a plague-ridden London. Even the excellent “robot posing as death” conceit is marred by a cheesy costume and a forced, lumbering perfoemance. That said, Peter Davison is excellent as always and the itinerant thespian rogue is a nice counterpoint to his performance. Like so much of the Davison-era stories it’s passably entertainin but woefully underdeveloped. :(
