The moulds are made from bright green PVC, and, as the seller explains:
Before action figures move into production the moulds are tested in unusual coloured plastic to make sure the mould are all correct and all the pieces work as expected. These test mouldings are incredibly rare and normally never even seen by the general public as they are usually destroyed after they have been checked.
While the finished Uncle figure was mass-produced, the Amelia Pond one, modelled on the young companion wearing her duffel coat (as seen in The Eleventh Hour, The Big Bang and The Angels Take Manhattan), was a BBC Shop exclusive, now completely sold-out.
Both auctions conclude on 5th February, and have starting bids of £149.99 – but with buy-it-now prices of £249.99.
They really are one-of-a-kind, and would form the center of any proud Doctor Who collection. Of course, we’ll let you decide whether they’re appropriately priced…
