Ood You Take This Woman…?

2013 will certainly bring quite a few tears to quite a few Doctor Who fans as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show and all get a bit emotional when we look back at the past and think about all the obstacles that the show has overcome and all those that it has sadly lost.

But before we start getting maudlin, let’s have one of those good emo moments, the ones that make you say ‘aaawww’ whilst turning away from your friends because you’re trying to pretend that you have something in your eye.

January’s most romantic Doctor Who moment came from a couple who recently got engaged and released the details of their little love story for all to enjoy. Doctor Who fan Astrid was in class (presumably college, she’s American) when she saw an Ood handing out sweets for all to enjoy. After approaching said Ood, she was informed by the creature, who had disguised its voice (therefore giving her no clue that it was her future fiancé), that she could win a River Song diary if she answered seven questions correctly.

Can you guess what one of the questions was?

All went according to plan and the couple were engaged within minutes. It’s a lovely story with some heart warming pictures to go with it via this link http://imgur.com/a/1xpPI?gallery. Congratulations to the pair of them!  The only question that remains is will they remember 2013 for the year that they got hitched or for the year that Doctor Who went mad with 50th anniversary celebrations?

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
