The time travellers narrowly escape their first adventure in 100,000 BC

An Adventure in Space and Time Shoots in Wimbledon

Back in 2012 we learned that among the celebrations for Doctor Who‘s 50th anniversary year there would be a dramatised telling of the show’s genesis and early years.

An Adventure in Space and Time is written by Mark Gatiss and will soon start shooting at Deer Park Road studios in Wimbledon, reports Your Local Guardian. Written by Mark Gatiss, the project is a definite labour of love.

I’ve wanted to tell this story for more years than I can remember.

This is the story of how an unlikely set of brilliant people created a true television original. And how an actor – William Hartnell – stereotyped in hard-man roles, became a hero to millions of children.

We happen to know that shooting is set to start in around three weeks, with casting taking place right now. We also suspect that this will be as vital viewing as the anniversary episode itself!

A long-term Doctor Who fan, Christian grew up watching the show and has early memories of the Graham Williams era. His favourite stories are Inferno, The Seeds of Doom and Human Nature (although The Empty Child, Blink and Utopia all come close). When he’s not bossing around the news team, Christian is a freelance writer specialising in mobile technology and domestic computing, and enjoys classic rock, cooking and spending time in the countryside with his wife and young children.
