Speaking at the recent press screening of The Snowmen, Doctor Who writer and executive producer Steven Moffat hinted that the show’s 50th anniversary in 2013 will be something to look forward to – and look back on.

Naturally The Grand Moff wasn’t giving anything away, but we can at least get an idea of the scale of what he has planned for us. The episodes, he says, are:
“…immense, they are considerable,” he promised. “[The episodes] will be full of tremendous surprises. But they wouldn’t be surprises if I accidentally said them now, would they?
“But I promise you, we’re going to take over television. Trust me.”
Clara/Oswin Link
Interestingly, despite previous suggestions to the contrary, Moffat promised that there is indeed a link between new companion Clara and the poor Dalek convert seen in Asylum of the Daleks.
“You will know [what the link is between the two] eventually,” he promised. “You are going to get the answer but as ever on Doctor Who, we make you wait a little bit longer.”
Exciting stuff, we think you’ll agree – and perhaps just a bit too much right now, what with new TARDIS interiors, spoilers and a Christmas special coming in less than a week!
About the author
The most exciting hint I get from this is that there will be anniversary episodeS. Everything else I have read seems to say we will only get one.
I want there to be a full Series 8 in the fall finishing off WITH the 50th Anniversary Specials – one on Nov 23rd, the other on Dec 25th.
This is in addition to the rest of the bloody 2012 series that’s airing in the Spring of 2013.
