Matt Smith is excited about the Doctor Who 50th anniversary episode, despite not yet having read Steven Moffat’s script.

Speaking to the BBC’s Newsbeat (a Radio One news bulletin with carefully formatted items for easy digestion by “yoof”/musically undiscerning listeners) Matt said that he expects to see a script in the New Year.
Could 2013 be the best year in the show’s history? Matt certainly thinks so, but reveals that the stars are as much in the dark as everyone else – for now.
“We’re as much in the dark as the majority of other people.
“I imagine I’ll get to read something in January, February time. We’ll make it the biggest and the best year, hopefully in the show’s history.”
Kasterborous is increasingly of the opinion that there will be a lot more to the 50th anniversary celebrations of Doctor Who than eight episodes and a single special. Watch out for documentaries, talking heads, the Mark Gatiss-penned “genesis” drama and much more, both online and off.
The anniversary special is surely going to be but a single element, a crowning glory of 50 amazing years of time travel!

Steven Moffat commented on the anniversary at the press launch for the Snowman.
Speaking at the press launch for the Snowman Moffat said:
“…immense, they are considerable,” he promised. “[The episodes] will be full of tremendous surprises. But they wouldn’t be surprises if I accidentally said them now, would they?
“But I promise you, we’re going to take over television. Trust me.”
Whoops I forgot it was here I read the above. Sounds like we will get lots of Who.
I am so looking forward to 2013 as a great year for Doctor Who. Even if i still can’t understand why BBC didn’t want much money from me this year in DVD sales. I guess they just have enough.
Anyway. I hope there is lots of who goodness for us this year. I’m starting to feel desperation set in on my part. After a year of being teased, and an “ok” season 7a, I am really really really really hoping for good DW in the year to come.
I bet Steven’s hinted something. Like, “Ever heard of the Tractators, Matt…?”
