Later this month, a whole host of big sci-fi and media stars, including guests from Doctor Who, will be attending Birmingham’s MEMORABILIA convention.
Billed as ‘The Ultimate Collector’s Show,’ MEMORABILIA is held at the NEC on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th November.
Jeremy Bulloch – who’s best-known for playing Boba Fett in Star Wars, but also starred as Tor in The Space Museum and the Time Warrior’s Hal the Archer – and Garrick Hagon will be there on both days. Hagon played the undertaker, Abraham, in A Town Called Mercy, as well as Ky in 1972’s The Mutants, but similarly is best-known for his role (as Biggs, Luke’s friend) in Star Wars.
Richard Franklin (Mike Yates) and Shane Rimmer (from The Gunfighters) will also be at MEMORABILIA on Sunday, while stars attending on Saturday include Michael Jayston (the Valeyard); Sheila Reid (Vengeance on Varos’ Etta); Angela Douglas (Doris Lethbridge-Stewart in Battlefield); Joe Pickley (from School Reunion); Sheila Steafel (from Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150 AD); and Brigit Forsyth, who played Ruth Maxtible in The Evil of the Daleks.
Christopher Ryan will also be at the convention; he is best-known to Whovians as a myriad of Sontarans (General Staal, Commander Stark and Commander Halke), but also played Kiv in The Trial of a Time Lord serial, Mindwarp, Peri Brown’s swansong.
He will be part of the Only Fools and Horses reunion, which also features John Challis aka Boycie (or Scorby in The Seeds of Doom), and Smith and Jones’ Roy Marsden.
In fact, it’ll be quite a day for Only Fools… fans (and yes, that’s everyone), with Tessa Peake-Jones (Raquel), Gwyneth Strong (Cassandra), Paul Barber (Denzil), Sue Holderness (Marlene) and Patrick Murray (Mickey Pearce) also taking part in the reunion.
Sadly, William Russell (Ian Chesterton, one of the Doctor’s first companions) will no longer attend – but with so many stars going, the convention is sure to be a hit.
