There’s less than six weeks until Christmas and that means only one thing, the return of the Doctor. The last time we saw him, the poor fellow was mourning the loss of the Ponds but now he has a whole new life to look forward to with the arrival of a new friend.

But we still know very little about the Christmas special and maybe that’s the way things should stay, however for all of you that would like to know a little more we have the good people at the Radio Time to help us out, they’ve published a few details of the up and coming adventure.
We know Steven Moffat’s written it and that it’s to be directed by Saul Metzstein who was responsible for the wonderful Dinosaurs on a Spaceship and A Town Called Mercy. Richard E Grant (the original Ninth Doctor before Doctor Who came back to television) is playing the villain, and that there’s the return of Jenna-Louise Coleman as some form of Oswin from Asylum of the Daleks as well as Jenny and Silurian Vastra from A Good Man Goes to War.
According to the Radio Times, the characters of Vastra and Jenny have been spotted on set filming for the episode with Diana Rigg which takes place later in the series’ run, so could they be travelling with the Doctor from Christmas, as the Radio Times speculates or is it more likely that Moffat gives them a third reappearance rather than a regular role?
As always, this is speculation, we’ll just have to wait until Christmas to see – but we’ll get a sneak peak during tonight’s Children in Need fundraising broadcast!
