Has Matt Got a British Movie Lined Up?

Series 7a and its related promotion is now a thing of the past and Matt Smith should be busy finishing off the second half of the season with Jenna-Louise Coleman…

…but instead it seems that for a brief time he was spending time with Piers “don’t call me Arsene” Wenger at a drama launch. The former Doctor Who Executive Producer’s new role as a bigwig in the Channel 4 world resulted in a few wagging tongues when the current star of the show was spotted, apparently prompting “talk of a future defection” if the Guardian’s Media Monkey diary is to be believed.

Of course, there is little to worry about. The Eleventh Doctor actor has had plenty of opportunities to flex his acting chops away from the trials of travelling through time and space, so any meetings with Wenger are more likely to be something cinematic – after all, Wenger is  senior commissioning executive at Film4 Productions…
