There was a time, we’ll call it the Dark Time, when Doctor Who wasn’t on out television screens every year, fans had to rely on books, magazines, videos and DVD’s to get their Who fix. There were also a whole host of fan productions that attempted to keep the fire alive.
Some productions were interesting spin offs such as Auton (featuring, you guessed it, Autons) or Downtime (featuring the Brigadier and Sarah Jane Smith) that had a decent budget and script behind them and others were independently produced by fans who wanted a crack of the whip to make their very own version of the Doctor (time would not be kind to many of these…).
Besieged is a mix of the two that does everything right on a small budget. Featuring a very Scottish Doctor arriving on a very Scottish military research vessel in a very Scottish part of space, the story is not only interesting but brilliantly fun as well, definitely worthy of a look if you want to sample how fan productions can get things very, very right.
We mentioned Besieged in a recent podcast that you may have heard and now we’re providing you with the means to watch it; it’s a funny old thing with effects that easily match that of the McCoy era!
You can watch part one of Besieged on YouTube now.
