Oh, Vienna…! (In Her Own Audio Series!)

Chase Masterson – better known to sci-fi fans as Leeta in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine – is set to reprise her role as impossibly-glamorous bounty hunter, Vienna Salvatori, in her own spin off series, simply titled Vienna for Big Finish Productions.

Vienna makes her first appearance in the upcoming Doctor Who full cast audiobook, The Shadow Heart, which stars Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor.

The eponymous series launches in February with The Memory Box, which sees Vienna on the run from the law, standing accused of murdering a rich industrialist – a crime she may or may not have committed.

But is anything quite what it seems?

Co-Producer, David Richardson, couldn’t be happier with the combination of star and writer:

In Vienna, Jonathan Morris has created a character who is smart, sexy and a great deal of fun. And Chase just exudes charisma and star quality.

When the two came together during the recording of The Shadow Heart, it soon became clear that we had something wonderful. The script for The Memory Box is outstanding, and it’s our hope that the audience will embrace Vienna and a series will follow.

Chase Masterson hopes that fans will fall in love with the charming assassin as much as she has:

The Memory Box is a great romp. As with The Shadow Heart, writer Jonathan Morris takes us on a ride packed with twists and turns and farce – it’s big fun. And Vienna is one of my favourite characters ever: the endearingly incorrigible killer we loved to hate in The Shadow Heart – completely unapologetic, even charming about her day job as a mercenary assassin.

Plus, she usually manages to land on the side of justice. Vienna’s quite a turn-on – I think you’ll like her as much as I do.

Vienna: The Memory Box is co-produced by Mark Wright, written by Jonathan Morris, and directed by Ken Bentley, with sound design and music by Jamie Robertson.

Due out in February 2013, the first episode is available at a special low introductory price of £5 for both CD and download. It will increase to full price a month after release, so pre-order your copy now!

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.

I love Chase Masterson, she’s brilliant! I’m definitely going to be purchasing these. It there are any Chase fans who read this, and are also fans of film noir, try and check out “Yesterday Was A Lie” , a James Kerwin film which Chase helped produce. It features a detective on the trail of a reclusive genius, all complicated by a lost love, and someone’s refusal to let go of the past that has an impact on time itself. It’s a great film, with some very clever cutting edge production technology used that gives it a look and feel all its own.

I mean seriously – can Ms Masterson get any damn hotter?!
