New Doctor Who companion Jenna-Louise Coleman

Arthur Darvill Praises Jenna-Louise Coleman

With the baton well and truly passed on to Jenna-Louise Coleman what does Rory himself, Arthur Darvill think of the Doctor’s new companion?

Speaking to the Radio Times, Arthur was suitably impressed with her performance during the brief time they shared together during Asylum of the Daleks:

I think Jenna’s a really interesting actress and I reckon Matt’s going to have a great time on set with her…I think she’s brilliant. She has to be different from Amy and I think what she did in that episode was just great – I’m really intrigued. It’s so nice not knowing what’s going to happen and to be able to watch it all unfold.

And there’s a lot to unfold. Getting over the initial shock of her first appearance; there’s the small matter of just how Steven Moffat is planning to reintroduce her to the Doctor – with filming taking place on the second half of Series 7, rumours are already circling about her true nature.

Is she scattered throughout time? Are we experiencing the series from the Doctor’s point of view, with the chronology criss-crossing as the Doctor savours those last few trips with the Ponds? and more importantly, will we find out the origins of her love of soufflés?

Naturally, all will be revealed come Christmas time when she makes her debut as a fully-fledged companion.

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
