Arthur Darvill, Matt Smith and Karen Gillan waiting for the cameras to roll on Doctor Who Series 7

Matt Won’t Lose Touch with the Ponds

Arthur Darvill, Matt Smith and Karen Gillan waiting for the cameras to roll on Doctor Who Series 7In this week’s Radio Times (on sale later today) Matt Smith discusses life in Doctor Who after the departure of his co-stars Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill.

The trio will appear on screen for the last time this week in The Angels Take Manhattan as Amy and Rory find themselves up against the Weeping Angels – something that the combined efforts of both the Doctor and River Song might have trouble dealing with.

But it’s not all bad news. While his co-stars might be leaving, Matt is in no doubt that he’ll see them again.

I’m very, very fond of Arthur and Karen and there’s no way we’ll lose touch.

From Christmas 2012, the Doctor will have a new companion, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman, of whom he says:

We’ve hit the ground running with Jenna and it’s been non-stop. I’ve got ten more weeks filming before the end of the season and with the 50th anniversary coming up, it’s not as if I don’t have a lot to think about.
