Jenna-Louise in Room at the Top

Previously on Kasterborous… we reported that a BBC adaptation of Room at the Top, based on a 1957 novel by John Braine and starring the now very well-known Jenna-Louise Coleman, had had its release delayed by a copyright issue.

The good news is that the issue now seems to have been cleared up and we will all be able to enjoy the story on September 26th.

Set in 1940’s Yorkshire, the story is:

Set amid the social aspirations of post-war Britain, Room at the Top is about one man’s struggle to gain status against all odds.

Coleman plays Susan Brown, the daughter of a rich and powerful local man whom the story’s main protagonist, Joe Lampton, tries to seduce in order to gain a new social status.

We at Kasterborous are all very excited to see this, not only for the rich nature of the story but also to experience more of Jenna-Louise Coleman’s varied and talented performances that she’s shown she can offer.

Starring Matthew McNulty as Joe Lampton, Alice Aisgill as Maxine Peake, Kevin McNally as Counsellor Brown, Jack Wales as Theo James and Jenna-Louise Coleman as Susan Brown, Room at the Top will air on BBC Four on Wednesday 26th September at 9.00pm.

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
