David Tennant as the Doctor

Tennant: “The Suit’s on Standby” for Fiftieth Anniversary

With some encouraging noises coming from Christopher Eccleston about just how open he is to returning to the Doctor Who fold,  someone who apparently is just waiting for the call is David Tennant, who again confirmed to G4’s Attack of the Show that he’d love to don the pinstripe suit once more.

While he doesn’t confirm or deny anything in this video clip, Tennant is clearly excited by the prospect of a multi-Doctor story for the Doctor Who’s fiftieth anniversary:

“I cannot be drawn on anything. Who knows what will happen next year? I’m sure there are lots of plans being discussed in quiet rooms by men with long beards and great power.”

Who? The Fellowship of the Ring?

However, he also added that he has the suit on standby:

“I have it in a very secure location… I have one of everything that I wore. I hope moths haven’t got it!”

Moths ate my Doctor Who Fiftieth Anniversary costume, anyone?

Tennant also joked about his recent non-appearance at the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony and confirmed a few details about what the full Doctor Who tribute might have contained:

“What happened? What went wrong? I was waiting for the phone call. There was an online petition apparently, which the London Organising Committee chose to ignore…Worse than that, in the opening ceremony there was this Doctor Who sequence that got cleared. We all had to sign off on it and they cut it!”

Everyone has a favourite Doctor and mine - just for his honesty, his fairness and his ability to not notice the Master's awful, awful disguises/anagrams (Sir Gilles Estram!?!) - has to be the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. The stories didn’t serve him as well as his acting served those stories.
