Possible Companion Spoilers!

New Doctor Who companion Jenna-Louise Coleman

New Doctor Who companion Jenna-Louise Coleman

This writer’s hopes that Jenna-Louise Coleman’s character would be a regenerated Susan sadly appear to have been well and truly dashed.

A set report from her debut episode (provided for the Internet by Doctor Who TV) has pointed out that there seems to be more than one Victorian jaunt in the Doctor’s future, which is rare for the show (and when you consider how much effort is needed to build a Victorian atmosphere, it figures that there would be a damn good reason).

Spoilers below (perhaps – remember that we could be completely wrong) on why this could be:
The Doctor’s new companion – widely believed to be called Clara – is speculated to be from the Victorian era (which, to be fair, spans 60 years) and has been sighted in Victorian clothing. Madame Vastra has also been sighted on location more than once.
So, where and when is the Doctor’s new lady-friend from? We can speculate all we like (and this writer’s still hoping for Susan), but the bottom line is that we’ll have to wait until Christmas Day to find out like the rest of you!

I’m really excited by the idea that Clara’s from the Victorian era. That would mean that presumably (<<>>) The Crimson Horror could well be a ‘return to home’ episode for her, much like Aliens Of London was for Rose. Dammit, I’m exciting myself just by thinking/typing/reading/pondering that.

I’m not sure why you want her to be a regenerated Susan, though…

** Can I just add that in my previous comment, the “(<>)” did have “SPOILERS” written in the middle, but randomly disappeared upon posting. Just in case anyone thought that was a random outburst of characters. :)

    • Hi James – the use of the angled brackets is interpreted by the comments system as HTML (you can use common HTML such as a href, em and strong, for instance).

This is why the word “spoilers” was lost.

Spoilers cannot be added in the commnents

Okidoke! :) Thanks for the help – it did puzzle me a bit.

Why bring back Susan? The Moff is well able to create interesting new characters.

  4. Leo says:

Well, I’m hoping its a Victorian era companion as suggested.

Whilst I would like some resolution to the whole what happened to Susan issue, I’m quite happy with new characters as this moves the show forward.

Now if Clara is in possession of a fob watch, then this could be interesting…

I’m so looking forward to more changes! And so interested in the hints that she’s unlike any other companion,,,, ahhhh so exciting

  6. Bob James says:

She is, without doubt, Adric. He survived the final moments of Earthshock, and met a time agent, by the name of Jack Harkness, who brought him to future earth, whereupon he had a procedure to change his sex. He traveled with this time agent and ended up in victorian times on earth, whereupon Jack freaks out (that’s really saying something!)and abandons him/her. Along comes the Doctor, and a bit gobsmacked understandably, has a shocking reunion with him, and out of guilt takes hime back to the Tardis to embark upon new adventures!
