Matt Smith Hints at “Live” 50th Anniversary Episode

Building the hype for the upcoming 50th anniversary, Matt Smith has weighed in on what he thinks will happen (he’s already stated that he “doubts there will be a regeneration”) for the occasion.

One of the things he’s suggested is a live episode, such as the ones EastEnders and Coronation Street have attempted in their anniversary years.

This has the potential to be good, provided they don’t shoehorn in loads of unwanted interactivity to cope with the inevitable lack of CGI and so forth. For example, “To make the Doctor reverse the polarity of the neutron flow, press the red button.”

We’ll give you his exact words to mull over and you can tell us what you think via the comments!

It won’t just be a televised event, I think it will be a live event. The way it’s transmitted on TV will hopefully be an inventive thing–something different.

And if there’s any word that defines Doctor Who, it’s “different”.

In his spare time, Scott writes for Kasterborous, his personal blog at WordPress and the revived Starburst Magazine. He’s also on Twitter (as @Scott_V_Writer) where he tries to be interesting and verbose in 140 characters.
