At last! No sooner have we posted a summary about the current situation concerning Doctor Who Series 7 and scheduling that the news is released from the BFI screening of Asylum of the Daleks – it’s September 1st!
If you were like us and unable to either get a ticket or make it to London (or both) then you can at least get a glimpse of what happened via this gallery thoughtfully provided by the Official Doctor Who website, where you can catch a glimpse of Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill. The BBC also report that new images from Asylum of the Daleks will be available tomorrow (along with official news of the broadcast date, no doubt).
Lucky fans able to attend the screening of the Dalek-tastic first episode of the new run – the beginning of the end for the Ponds – will not only have had the chance to watch the episode, not only find out the date of the new series launch but also discover that the titles of the first five episodes have been confirmed as:
- Asylum of the Daleks
- Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
- A Town Called Mercy
- The Power of Three
- The Angels Take Manhattan
Previously only episodes 1, 2 and 3 had been confirmed with heavy suspicion about episode 5. Episode 4 was previously believed to have been called “Cubed”.
And if that wasn’t enough, Doctor Who companions past and present met up for the first time:
It’s days like this that remind me how lucky I am to be involved professionally in a franchise like DOCTOR WHO. Best job ever.

That’s a fangasm for another day…

1/9/12 can’t come soon enough!!!
I thought ‘Dinosaurs on a Spaceship’ was a bad title. ‘The Angels take Manhattan’ is vomit inducing in its cringiness. To be followed by ‘The Great Angel Caper’, ‘The Angels’ Christmas Carol’, ‘The Angels’ Treasure Island’? One can only conclude that a complete Muppet is inventing these absolutely shocking titles.
Still, new series September 1st. Yay.
I do hope this is the broadcast date. From what I gathered yesterday from reading one or two reports from the BFI thing, there wasn’t an exact date given, just “September”.
Of course, if the K knows more than I do, I’m cool with that
If it changes, we’ll hold our hands up – the date comes from multiple sources, however.
Yeah, I’ve seen it in numerous places too. But nothing on the official site, twitter, or facebook, nothing on doctorwhonews and outright denied on DenOfGeek.
It’s an educated guess though, I think, so I reckon you’ll be proved right. The other show the BBC have to get into the schedules is Merlin – 5 episodes airing from the 1st would leave them a handy 13-week gap to fill up before Christmas.
I still don’t understand WHY they’re being so coy with the airdate. As a marketing ploy it’s daft.
BBC America apparently has September 1st confirmed, so that almost seals it
Brilliant, thanks Christian.
BBC A confirming airdate before UK.. hardly seems sporting!
So the Angels Take Manhattan?
I bet after that they take Berlin….
How many nights they’ve prayed for this, to let their work begin..
OK,Priority one for me,,,,,, reschedule the DR Who party that was planned at my house the 25th.
