Australia Gets Doctor Who Right After UK Screening!

Doctor Who Series 7: Asylum of the DaleksWe’re delighted to let you all know that our Australian cousins will get the opportunity to enjoy Asylum of the Daleks literally minutes after it airs in the UK!

While US viewers can view the episode which kicks off Doctor Who Series 7(a) on BBC America at 9/8c, down in Australia the Dalek-filled episode premiere’s on ABC TV’s iview service on Sunday September 2th from 5.10am EST!

It might well require an early start if you’re desperate to catch the episode, but as iview is an on-demand catchup service, Asylum of the Daleks will still be there after the typical Australian has had his/her (stereotype time) Sunday morning walk on the beach and enjoyed some scrambled egg croissants on the veranda.

Brendan Dahill is ABC1′s Controller:

“For Doctor Who fans, it is a fantastic opportunity to see new episodes within hours of them premiering in the UK – each episode will be available on iview on Sundays.”

“ABC’s iview is the most watched catch-up service in Australia with 48% of online Australians aged 16+ having accessed iview,” said Dahill. “The new iview app for iphones and iPod Touch, launched on June 26, has seen a phenomenal 434,000 downloads recorded to date – with 210,000 downloads recorded in its first week.”

If you’re in Australia and don’t have access to iview, don’t worry – Asylum of the Daleks will hit ABC1 the following week on Saturday September 8th starting at at 7.30pm EST, and is repeated on ABC2 on Tuesday September 11th at 9.30pm EST.
