Asylum of the Daleks Preview

Doctor Who Series 7 kicks off this weekend (you knew that, surely?) and as you would expect there is a lot to see and enjoy beforehand – unless you’re giving yourself a media blackout on the subject until 7.10pm on Saturday evening(in which case, why are you reading this?).

Of particular interest beyond the various galleries and trailers is this chat with Steven Moffat from the official Doctor Who website.

Meanwhile, Matt Smith and Karen Gillan both chatted with the BBC’s Lizo Mzimba recently, with the results broadcast on BBC Breakfast this morning. The clip features a few shots from Series 7a not yet seen elsewhere.

You’re no doubt extremely excited by the forthcoming Asylum of the Daleks, so let’s give the BBC’s web team a massive “bravo!” for their new Asylum of the Daleks desktop wallpapers, available via the official Doctor Who Facebook page.

As you should recall, the episode synopsis is as follows:

Alongside Matt Smith as the Doctor, Karen Gillan as Amy, Arthur Darvill as Rory and Nicholas Briggs as the voice of the Daleks, Asylum of the Daleks also features Anamaria Marinca as Darla Von Karlsen, Naomi Ryan as Cassandra, David Gyasi as Harvey, Zac Fox as “Photoshoot PA”, Barnaby Edwards and Nicholas Pegg as Daleks and is directed by Nick Hurran. Steven Moffat is the episode writer, produced by Marcus Wilson.

For what we hope will be the last time of writing this, Asylum of the Daleks airs at 7.20pm on Saturday, September 1st on BBC One and BBC HD (available on the iPlayer a little later) and on BBC America at 9/8c. The episode is available on ABC’s iview in Australia from 5.30am on Sunday morning, and screens on ABC1 on Saturday, September 8th at 7.30pm EST.

We’ll have our review of the episode published on Sunday – look out for it!
