Some crazed soul on Tumblr (Gladys S of Rockets Surgery) has turned her active imagination and love of Doctor Who to drawing. To add fuel to the continuing fire of ”can there be a female Doctor?” arguments, she’s depicted the first 11 as women to see how it would’ve turned out.
The results are…intriguing, to say the least.
Some of the Doctors look a bit odd (Seven’s appearance is reminiscent of the time when Due South‘s Benton Fraser was ‘forced’ to dress in drag for an episode) but the whole collection is well worth a look and she’s got other Doctor Who fan art on her Tumblr. For what it’s worth, she’s captured the “prim and proper” look that one might associate with the First Doctor.

Which is your favourite? Do any of these illustrations persuade you that a lady Doctor could work?

I never thought I’d say this, but female Peter Davison and female Paul McGann are hot!
Is it just me or did they perfectly capture five’s innocence?
It’s persuaded me that a female Doctor would be great – if she’d been female from the beginning. But a female Doctor now, after eleven male Doctors? I’m still going to need persuading on that one…
Fantastic images though.
Jo Grant virtually wears the Fifth Doctor’s costume in ‘The Green Death’…not forgetting Romana’s pink Fourth Doctor costume in Destiny of the Daleks.
Nice pictures, nice idea. I don’t need any persuading about a female Doctor, personally.
