Matt Smith is the star of Doctor Who

Matt Praises Jenna at SDCC

SFX managed to corner Matt Smith at the recent San Diego Comic-Con for a quick chat regarding Series 7 of Doctor Who and some of the things that we lucky viewers can expect.

Asylum of the Daleks sounds as brilliantly extravagant and thrilling as it always has, with the actor discussing his favourite era of Daleks as well as mentioning that the episode contains a moment where the Doctor is in  a roomful of Daleks that cover all of their iterations (we presume that they’ll all be giving the Special Weapons Dalek a wide birth as it’s rumoured that even ordinary Daleks are a bit creeped out by model), how cool does that sound, the Doctor in a room full of different Daleks! Smith also goes on to say that he feels the episode will make the Daleks scary again, something they didn’t quite achieve in his first encounter with them.

Smith is also very positive about the new girl stepping into the role of full time companion, Jenna Louise-Coleman, as it forces the show to forever move onwards.

There’s a quick focus on his input into the coat that he’ll be sporting (and any new hats that he will be wearing) as well as a general side step around talk of the big 50th that’s coming up, with mumbles of “talk to Steven” and promises of “big and far reaching events” but no actual exciting news, which will probably be announced next year.

About

What happens when an eight year old kid watches the 1993 repeat run of Planet of the Daleks? He pretty much ends up here writing about the show that grabbed hold of him and never let go!
