
Television legend Dame Diana Rigg – one-time star of The Avengers – and her daughter Rachael Stirling, a fantastic actress in her own right – have both been cast in Mark Gatiss’ Doctor Who Series 7 episode!
The news has been announced this lunchtime on the show’s official Twitter feed.
Steven Moffat said ‘Dame Diana Rigg, Rachael Stirling and a Mark Gatiss script – a combination of talents you could only get in Doctor Who!’

Meanwhile, Rigg’s daughter Rachael Stirling (Tipping the Velvet, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen) is quoted as saying:
Rachael Stirling said, ‘Mark Gatiss has written a gift of a script and an on-screen relationship between Ma and I that is truly delicious.’

The two actress join David Warner and Liam Cunningham in the historical episode which much surely qualify as the most sumptuously-cast installment of the show for some time, if not ever!
